Hotel helps give family a holiday to remember, The Bryn Awel Hotel, Mold
14th August 2006
The fundraising efforts of the St. Mary's Church Mother's Union in Mold have been matched by a local hotel, to help give one family a holiday experience they won't forget this year.
The Bryn Awel Hotel on Denbigh Road in the town, matched funds raised by a Mother's Union coffee morning to help disadvantaged children or those families who aren't able to travel themselves, have the opportunity of a family holiday somewhere in the UK.
The coffee morning raised £160 for the cause and this was matched by the hotel before the total was donated to the St. Asaph diocese's Mother's Union 'Away from it All' holiday scheme, to be distributed in consultation with Social Services.
Mother's Union enrolling member, June Taylor, said: "We are extremely grateful to the Bryn Awel for their support. The money raised will help go towards paying for children being brought up by their grandparents, or those living in a deprived area who can't get away, to go off and enjoy themselves this summer."
Owner of the Bryn Awel Hotel, Greg Shankar, said: "At this time of year when so many people are going on their summer holidays it's good to be able to give those children who wouldn't otherwise get one, a chance to spend some time away with their families."
