Italian feast to get you in the mood for summer, The Bryn Awel Hotel, Mold
23rd March 2004
An air of Italy is set to hit Mold as two of the towns best-known restaurateurs join forces to offer local people the chance to get into the summer spirit!
As the clocks go forward and things gear up for the warmer months Gaetano Sciarrillo, owner of the Belvedere restaurant on Wrexham Road, and long-term friend Greg Shankar from the Bryn Awel hotel decided to team up to get the town in the mood for summer with the finest Italian cuisine and folk entertainment - a stone's throw away from their back gardens!
Spurred on by the success of their previous Italian theme nights, the pair are using their joint talents to create a continental flavour, which is set to leave mouths watering all over the town. The event is the latest in a string of themed nights taking place at the hotel on the last Monday of every month.
Greg, who has been the Owner of Bryn Awel Hotel since 1999 has grand plans for the Hotel and a refurbishment programme is currently underway. He hopes to make this event the best yet.
He said: "We have had a full house for previous nights, but we're hoping to make this one even better! We have a musical duo who will be performing traditional Italian music. It will end in a mega sing-song with everyone joining in and getting into the Italian spirit!
"Gae is a superb chef, but the Belvedere doesn't have the room to offer as many people the chance to experience the feel of a traditional home-cooked Italian feast, with room for entertainment, as the Bryn Awel does. This way we get the best of both worlds!"
Chef for the night Gaetano Sciarillo was born in Ariano Irpino, a small town near to Naples. He opened the Belvedere restaurant in Mold 20 years ago, where he has made a name for himself as a top class chef.
Gae is pleased with the success of the previous two themed evenings he has been involved with at the Bryn Awel, and hopes his traditional Italian cuisine will prove a draw for people once again.
He said: "There is so much variety in Italian food. Many people think it's just about pasta, but every region has a different speciality. I try to show the different local dishes by cooking a selection for these nights. This time I'm going to focus on food from the Sicily region in the South, but it varies everytime."
The third Italian night will be held on March 29 at the Bryn Awel Hotel and will cost £19.95 per person for a four-course meal with entertainment.
