Local firms join forces, The Bryn Awel Hotel, Mold
Two North Wales firms have linked up to promote the best in gourmet food the area has to offer.
The Bryn Awel, in Mold, has started taking orders from top organic producer Rhug Estate Organic Farm, based in Corwen. The move means that people in North East Wales can now sample some of the meat that is also used by top chefs such as Raymond Blanc and John Torrode.
The pairing is also a boost for the environment, as it means that he Bryn Awel can keep its carbon footprint low – a value that is the very ethos of work at Rhug Estate.
Lord Newborough, from Rhug Estate said: “We are always pleased to supply local restaurants. It means we are helping each other and the environment by keeping carbon footprints low.”
Greg Shankar, director of the Bryn Awel Hotel, said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer organic produce on our menu, and our chefs are looking forward to working with produce from Rhug Estate, as they know it is highly thought of by some of the country’s top chefs.
“We are also pleased that we are keeping our carbon footprint low, and that we can help promote locally-grown and reared produce. I believe it is vital to support the local economy in this way.”
The two will teamed up again at this year’s Mold Food and Drink Festival. Rhug Estate Organic Farm exhibited their produce at the event, which is co-ordinated by the Mold Food and Restaurant Association, chaired by Greg Shankar.
